At the end of the previous book, John Charming discovered that his case of werewolf was rather worse than he thought. Now he's been captured by the Knights, who want him to investigate a werewolf leader in Wisconsin. With the Tribe, he encounters other assorted spirits and an ever growing web of intrigue. We also get more background on Charming's childhood and his training with the Knights.
I love this series more with everything that I read. I love its grounding in folklore, and I love that Charming has spent his abnormally long life reading up on said folklore. I love that the characters are complicated and have believable baggage for the messy lives that they've led. I'm a little concerned that Charming's relationship with Sig might turn into a tediously long will-they-or-won't-they, but I have hopes that it might be settling into something resembling their version of normality soon.
I think this series is getting promoted from library request to auto-buy.
